Welcome
'I seek to remember, that gentle art, was cellular, in my childhood'
Brian Rodger has been practicing in this field since 1985, beginning as a massage therapist then in 1989 focussing on Hellerwork. In 2005, he started to work with his own style of core body release. He discovered when the core of the body is released, then the rest of the body relaxes and lets go. No need to go chasing the problem, just very gently release the core and the structural work reveals itself.
'I talk with my hands, having a conversation with the body as it changes and releases. It is a voice, acting like a bio-feedback mechanism. I follow the breath and the body as it releases, so people can have a more subtle experience and then find different ways of experiencing their bodies.'

About Brian
I started a Massage Practice in 1985, then in 1989 I trained under Joseph Heller and practiced Hellerwork until 2005. Curiosity led me to explore and experiment. I combined these discoveries with my years of experience, plus my ongoing trainings, and in 2005 I started to work with my own style of core body release.
I discovered when the core of the body is released, then the rest of the body relaxes and let's go. No need to go chasing the problem, just very gently release the core and the structural work reveals itself.
The word Bodywork no longer incorporates all that I do. The outcomes, however, are very palpable. People leave having experienced a deep release and a greater awareness so they can experience their bodies in a different way.
I talk with my hands, having a conversation with the body as it changes and releases. It is a voice, acting like a bio-feedback mechanism. I follow the breath and the body as it releases, so people can have a more subtle experience and then find different ways of experiencing their bodies.
Consultation
What happens
I start by having a conversation about what the person is feeling in their body, their history and what they would like from the session.
I then have the person move around the room, encouraging them to become attentive to how they move and hold themselves. This helps the person to become conscious of long term chronic holding as well as a deeper awareness of themselves.
After this we make a plan, get agreement, and I reassure them that they are in charge. I always start from the area of tension or pain that the client identifies. This is an interactive experience we do it together.
How it happens
Between us, we explore the holding patterns in the body and find ways of releasing and letting go. This helps to witness the link between their body experience and their life experience.
I start with the spine, concentrating on the fight, flight and freeze mechanism which translates into releasing the corresponding muscles. It's a journey through the deeper body, as I lengthen, align and open the spine.
I'm also working with the nervous system and the mind - the part that tells the muscle what to do. I work with the conscious and unconscious mind as this has a huge bearing, not just on our ability to release the body, but also to make lasting changes. I work to free the mind holding first, then work with the physical holding, patiently working with the body as it releases. It is a process of undoing and remembering.
I am in essence making a template for an open, relaxed and spacious body.
How it feels
This is an expanded full bodied experience. It's an invitation to relax and unwind - a three dimensional release that goes all the way through, right down to the core.
Guiding hands bring new awareness, generous movement, spacious breath and melted muscles. There is a sense of expansion, lightness - a remembering.
This is an empathic body experience as the body responds to being listened to. A nourishing, nurturing, deep release.
